Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and competent person to join our busy HR department as a HR Advisor on permanent basis.
Reporting to a Senior HR Advisors, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a proactive, effective and high quality Human Resource service to line managers and employees.
Main duties of the job
The HR team have a strong emphasis on partnering our services through a professional and credible HR service, and the HR Advisor will support the effective delivery of the People Strategy. Providing advice to managers within their areas of responsibility, the post holder will manage a busy workload offering advice on sickness management, flexible working, parental leave, retirement etc.
As an ambassador for the HR team, you must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with a range of colleagues and managers. You will also have proven IT skills including use of MS Office packages.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively within a team, deal with sensitive and confidential issues and work flexibly.

The role is based at St Catherine's Health Centre, Birkenhead, however there is a current arrangement to work from home for part of the week.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Reporting to a Senior HR Advisor, the post holder will provide professional and timely generalist support and advice to staff and managers across the Trust across a range of HR matters, including the interpretation of terms and conditions of employment, HR policies and procedures and HR best practice.As such, the ability to gain and maintain credibility and establish good working relationships with staff at all levels across the organisation is essential.
The successful post holder will support all aspects of absence management case work, ensuring compliance to legislation and polices.
The role will involve manipulating and analysing workforce data to identify areas requiring support regarding sickness absence management.
The successful post holder will also contribute to the review and development of HR policy and procedures which impact across the organisation.
It will be essential for post holders to be able to work autonomously, managing and prioritising their own workload effectively, with the ability to respond to competing priorities whilst paying attention to detail and maintaining a high standard of work.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to NVQ Level 3 in Business Studies or equivalent relevant experience
- ECDL or equivalent experience
- Certificate in Personnel and Practice (or interest in working towards) or equivalent knowledge and skills
Experience and knowledge
Essential criteria- Experience or knowledge of working with Oracle based systems and dealing with complex data
- Experience of working within a busy HR environment
- Knowledge of implementing and advising Managers on HR policies and employment legislation
- Ability to make recommendations for improvements to HR policies and procedures
- Knowledge or experience of NHS or similar public sector organisation
- Maintaining computerised and manual filing systems
