The role of Class 1 Relief Tramper driver entails the critical responsibility of executing bulk collections and deliveries between various DPD sites and customers nationwide. The position requires operating a modern fleet on an agreed shift pattern, delivering palette loads to HGV-friendly locations.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Undertake a minimum of four nights per week away from base, utilizing secure company locations for overnight stays in the vehicle.
  • Operate within a designated region surrounding the base depot, ensuring efficient route management and timely deliveries.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all road safety regulations and company policies while operating heavy goods vehicles.
  • Ensure the proper handling and security of all cargo during transit and at delivery points.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including delivery receipts and vehicle inspection reports.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Promptly report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or delivery issues to the appropriate supervisors.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with customers, representing the companys values and standards at all times.
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions to stay current with industry regulations and company procedures.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and routes as required by business needs and customer demands.

The role demands a high degree of responsibility, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and customer service excellence.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Valid UK Class 1 Driving Licence
  • Minimum of 12 months Class 1 driving experience
  • Valid UK Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card
  • Valid UK Digital Tachograph Card
  • Demonstrated ability to load and unload trailers as required
