Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Advanced Senior Pharmacy Support Worker to join our dynamic Pharmacy Homecare Team.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading and supporting the Pharmacy Homecare Team, serving as a key member of the senior supervisory team within Homecare. The role involves co-ordinating, supporting and training the Pharmacy Support Workers while ensuring efficient and effective team operations.

Responsibilities include updating and maintaining SOPs, organising the workflow, statement work, conducting sick reviews, appraisals, and initial performance reviews.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess leadership and communication skills, reliability, and a common-sense approach. Experience in a supervisory role is essential. The candidate should be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively and possess strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

The Homecare team is a growing department consisting of 14 staff members ranging from Band 2 to Band 7. The team is responsible for organising and managing the treatment of over 8500 patients at home, treating a wide range of diseases. The department operates Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 17:30.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Numerate and literate e.g., GCSE in Maths and English Grade 5-9 or equivalent
  • HNC (or equivalent experience) in a science-based subject OR 2 A level passes in a science subject OR BTEC level 3 in a science subject OR equivalent knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical procedures gained through work experience and training
  • Significant experience of pharmacy
  • Significant supervisory experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using JAC computer systems
  • Experience of rota management
  • Experience of data management
  • NVQ2 pharmacy services Or NVQ2 equivalent in pharmacy services (or currently working towards)
