Job overview
To support the opening of the new Community Diagnostics Centre at Mile End Hospital in mid-2025, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialised Cardiac CT Radiographer to work within the Cardiac CT service provision networked from the service at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.The launch of the CDC will ensure patients have access to specialised services within a community setting, whilst taking advantage of close links with the service at Bart’s Heart Centre.
If you are a dynamic, enthusiastic, Cardiac Radiographer, specialised in Cardiac CT and are eager to develop your specialist knowledge and skills, this is an exciting opportunity to work within a newly established service alongside a friendly, hard-working, ambitious and highly skilled team of Radiographers within the CDC and in collaboration with the Cardiac Imaging service at St Bart’s NHS Trust.
As part of this face paced and exciting role, you will be working as a member of the Cardiac Imaging team, under the leadership of the Operational Lead Radiographer.
The Cardiac service within St Bart’s Trust is involved in a large amount of research and complex scanning with plenty of opportunities to get involved. We are immensely proud to have many of our Radiographers publishing research and representing us at conferences both in the UK and around the World.
The service at the CDC is based on a 7 day a week, 12 hours a day model offering flexible access to patients from around London and beyond.
Main duties of the job
The aim of this role is to provide high quality, effective Imaging services within Cardiac CT. The post holder will work closely with Radiographers, students and clinical staff of all grades in providing safe, prompt and effective imaging. This will be done at the Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) at Mile End.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- BSc or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
- HCPC State Registration
- Post Graduate specialist training.
Experience
Essential criteria- Demonstrable evidence of expert Cardiac CT radiographic experience
- Experience of working with junior staff and students.
- Vast practical Cardiac Radiography experience post qualification
- Experience in perusing innovation and role development in Cardiac radiography
- Experience in more than one hospital.
- Evidence of advanced knowledge in Cardiac Radiographic Imaging/ procedure.
Knowledge
Essential criteria- professional development/training and education for Cardiac CT Radiography
- Evidence that knowledge of Cardiac CTimaging techniques is up to date
- Evidence of the ability to critically analyse Cardiac CT radiography practice and role development/training potential.
- Post graduate specialist Cardiac CT training.
Skills
Essential criteria- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge in a range of Cardiac CT Imaging techniques and innovations.
- Demonstrate awareness of responsibility to and advocacy for patients.
- Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt training and teaching styles in response to needs of the trainee.
- Team player with enthusiasm for Cardiac CT, with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
- PACS, RIS and CRS knowledge and experience.
- IT skills, with advanced levels of understanding of Microsoft office.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst subject to interruption.
- Willingness to embrace new ideas and concepts.
- Very high personal and radiographic standards, with attention to detail.
- Ability to use own initiative, solve problems and make decisions.
- Evidence of participation in QA Programme and maintenance of agreed standards.
- Good Understanding of legislation relating to Health & Safety and Radiation Protection.

Essential criteria- The CDC is open 12 hours a day (8am-8pm) over 7 days and the successful candidate will be rostered to reflect this.
