This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Digital Services team, ensuring that the Trust provides an excellent data protection and information governance service internally, and for external customers.

The post holder will play a key role in developing, implementing and monitoring the comprehensive Information Governance (IG) framework of best practice policies and guidelines to ensure personal and corporate information is safeguarded, handled and managed in line with data protection legislation and NHS national standards and guidelines.

Main duties of the job

You will contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Trust Information Governance framework, incorporating Data Protection, Confidentiality, Freedom of Information and, where appropriate, Cyber Security and Information Security.

The post holder will act as a source of expertise on Information Governance and Data Protection matters within Digital Services and across the Trust to ensure that MFT operates in accordance with legislation, and best practice.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Education to Degree or equivalent; Additional Managerial qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection

Experience

Essential criteria
  • An expert knowledge and understanding of the Health Service data flows, definitions, information requirements
  • Substantive NHS management experience at a senior level in performance or information role with specialist experience in the relevant area
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering good customer service
  • Experience in an information governance / privacy / data protection role in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

  • Ability to provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information, where developed persuasive, motivational, negotiation, training, empathic or re-assurance skills are required.
