We are partnering with a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in King's Lynn, committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for children and young people aged 5-16 who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Maths Teacher to join the team and make a lasting impact on the lives of students.

Role:

As a Maths Teacher at this SEMH school in King's Lynn, you will:
  • Teach Maths across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, catering to a range of abilities, including students with complex needs.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual learning needs of students.
  • Use creative teaching methods to engage learners who may have experienced barriers to education.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies, ensuring a calm and positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including SEN specialists and pastoral staff, to support students holistically.
  • Provide emotional and social support to help students develop resilience, self-esteem, and positive behaviours.
  • Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to pupils, parents, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver the Maths curriculum in line with national standards, adapting lessons to meet students' individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Use trauma-informed teaching approaches and employ behaviour management techniques, including de-escalation and restorative practices.
  • Support students in developing functional numeracy skills that will prepare them for life beyond school.
  • Promote inclusion by encouraging full participation from students with varying abilities and emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with support staff and therapists to address both academic and emotional requirements of students.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in Maths.
  • Experience working with students who have SEMH, SEN, or experience in alternative provision is desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to calmly and effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting students in overcoming barriers to achieve their potential.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and safeguarding in an educational context.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching to accommodate a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to make a positive impact on young people's lives.
