Specialist Educational Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Coventry
Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am to 3:30pm)
Weekly Salary: £425 to £450Contract: Temporary (opportunities to go perm)

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school catering to children with complex needs, including: Non-verbal students who use alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECs, AAC devices)
Students with physical disabilities who require assistance with mobility, personal care, and adapted learningSEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, including trauma, anxiety, and emotional regulation difficulties
Autistic students with sensory processing challenges, communication barriers, and varied learning needs
Students with ADHD, requiring structured support to manage focus, routines, and impulsivity
What You’ll Be Doing:
Supporting students one-to-one or in small groups, adapting learning to meet individual needsAssisting with personal care and mobility support where necessary
Managing challenging behaviour, including verbal abuse and emotional outbursts
Using alternative communication strategies to engage with non-verbal students
Providing emotional and academic support to help students thrive in the classroom
Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and SEN specialists to implement individual learning plans
Who We’re Looking For:
✅ Previous experience working with SEN children in a school, care, or support setting✅ Confidence in managing challenging behaviour
✅ Strong resilience, patience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
✅ Minimum GCSE Maths & English (Grade C/4 or above)
✅ Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
✅ Ability to follow school policies: Long hair must be tied up
