Working as part of our pharmacy Education and Training team the successful candidate will engage with the wider pharmacy department to ensure high-quality, robust and innovative education and training is delivered.

In this role you will act as the lead facilitator for the Pharmacy Apprenticeships Standard Level 2 and Level 3, you will also be responsible for taking the lead in identifying, training and supporting present and future extended roles for Pharmacy Assistants (ATO’s) and Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to participate in reviewing and updating departmental induction, training and validation material and maintain and develop general induction plans for all staff groups.

You will be required to partake in operational duties equating to 20% of the job role (dependant on working hours). This may be in the dispensary and/or clinical pharmacy service, playing an important role in being part of a team working at ward level to deliver an exceptional medicine supply service.

Other duties will include involvement in the education and training of the technical aspects of other pharmacy and health care professionals.

You will be expected to be innovative and progressive in your approach to the development of pharmacy assistant technical officers, pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians and the pharmacy services.

You will be an accredited accuracy checker (with proof of either a local or national qualification) or on course to become one.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC/ Level3 in Pharmaceutical Services or equivalent
  • GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician
Desirable criteria
  • Accuracy Checking Technician
  • Coaching and / or mentoring experience or qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Has experience of training pharmacy technicians, pharmacy trainees or support staff through demonstration and instruction
  • Has previous experience in one or more of the core aspects of hospital pharmacy and has an understanding and knowledge of the pharmacy environment
  • Ability to implement and propose changes to practice/policies
  • Good knowledge of current Education & Training topics
  • Ability to perform and work under pressure to deliver objectives and plans
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of people / team management
  • Able to design and deliver pharmacy workshops

Communication and relationship skills

Physical skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work accurately and sustain concentration over short to long periods
  • Physical Effort: During a shift the post holder will frequently be required to exert light physical effort and may sit for long periods of time using IT equipment or meeting staff
  • Mental Effort: During a shift the post holder may experience unpredictable workload with some extremely busy periods with lots of background noise/distractions. Constant concentration is required for accurate work

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
