Science Teacher

• Job Type: Temporary, longterm. Start ASAP until Christmas
• Location: Weston Super Mare BS23
• Salary: Main teacher payscale

The timetable will be 70% Science lessons and 30% general cover. Planning has been done and resources prepared but will involve marking Mainly KS3 with some KS4.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Delivering engaging science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to cover Key Stage 5 being advantageous.
• Preparing lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments in line with curriculum objectives.
• Providing a safe and stimulating environment that facilitates learning.
• Monitoring and encouraging the progress of individual students.
• Assessing and recording students’ progress and preparing them for examinations.
• Being proactive in maintaining discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures.
• Collaborating with departmental colleagues and participating in regular meetings.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• A recognised teaching qualification in Science (e.g., PGCE, BEd or equivalent).
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willing to undergo checks).
• Strong knowledge of the UK secondary science curriculum.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a classroom and implement discipline as needed.
• A passion for Science and teaching with the ability to engage and inspire students.
