Team Manager (MASH)

Become a Children’s Team Manager for Bury and help with our ‘Let’s Do it for Children’ vision.

About the role

Team Managers are such an important part of our journey, and we promise to develop your skills and support your learning. We want the best talent in Bury and need practitioners who help influence the services we are developing. You will contribute to ensuring timely assessment and intervention for our children, achieving this through professional and reflective supervision, supporting staff learning and development, and ensuring the production of high-quality work to improve the outcomes for our children

We are one of the first Authorities in the North-west to be pioneering the Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding model of working with families and training will be provided to learn new skills such as motivational interviewing.

There has been major investment in our front-line social work, including smaller teams, creation of Advance Practitioners within the teams, resulting in lower caseloads and comprehensive social work academy to support the growth of the teams.

About You

To help us achieve our ambitions for children and families we want to invest in you, and we have a clear vision around succession planning for our most talented workers. At the heart of everything we do are the children and young people of Bury.

We want staff who can form relationships, seeing the strengths in families and building on those assets, always looking for solutions to support families to live together safely and for children and young people to thrive.

As the MASH Team Manager you will lead a team comprising of 5 Social Workers, and be the first point of contact for your team.

We are looking for candidates with substantive previous experience of working with children and their families in a statutory social care environment. You will need to have good knowledge of legislation and professional practice and will have the opportunity to work with children and families alongside management responsibilities, such as, chairing meetings and supervising and supporting social workers.

Employee Benefits include:

  • Re-imbursement of the annual £90 Social Work England registration fees (conditions apply).
  • Pay increases in line with your continued professional development.
  • Free parking where you work- worth £860 a year for qualified Social Workers who work from town center locations where there is no ready access to free parking, plus car mileage.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • A range of attractive work/life balance policies.
  • 26 days annual leave(rising to 31 days after 5 years), plus an additional day of leave over the Christmas period and the option to buy an additional 10 days on top of that.
  • Employee discount scheme which provides discounts with local business within the borough as well as a
  • Cycle to work scheme and car lease scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme, to support you through challenging times, with things like free counselling, financial or legal advice.

We have improved our interview process too - you will get a quick response to your application, and we have regular interview days.
