Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic Senior QIS Neonatal nurse to join us at the Royal Berkshire hospital as a Unit Manager, to help drive change and support in the forward planning of the neonatal service.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional role model who will be able to lead and co-ordinate the nursing team whilst being accountable for the overall provision for excellent nursing care.

We are a busy local neonatal unit supporting a maternity unit that has 5,000 deliveries per year. We have 2 intensive care, 6 high dependency and 8 special care cots and support a 5 bedded Transitional care unit.

Main duties of the job
  • To be clinically and managerially responsible for the provision of appropriate staffing levels and skill mix
  • To ensure effective management of the 16 cots and 5 Transitional care cots within our LNU.
  • To be competent in the delivery and supervision of a high quality nursing care across all areas of the neonatal service.
  • To be an excellent leader, communicator, educator and innovator to progress the development of the team and the neonatal service.
  • To provide senior nurse leadership and deputise in the absence of the Lead Nurse/Matron.
  • To provide a safe and supportive environment for staff, babies and relatives.
  • To ensure all staff work towards the trust vision and personally uphold the trust values.
  • Demonstrate kindness and respect to all members of the MDT and role model the leadership behavioural framework.
