The Finance and Procurement Directorate is responsible for the management of the University's financial affairs with the vision to protect, build and enhance the University's financial position. It contributes to the strategy and direction of the University and provides financial advice and support.
We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Research Finance Officer within Finance and Procurement Directorate, to work as part of the Research Finance Services team, you will provide support and guidance to the University academic community and NHS Tayside staff on the end-to-end processes involved in the preparation and submission and post award management of research grants.This is a full-time permanent Appointment
As a finance professional, this position will suit an individual who enjoys working collaboratively to offer research finance support over a range of service areas and who upholds the University's values of: valuing people; working together; integrity; making a difference; and excellence.The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of building positive relationships with finance and non-finance staff and being able to communicate financial information in a clear and accessible manner, both in writing and verbally.
Your priorities will include:
- Provide a first point of contact for all aspects of the research grants application and awards process;
- Provide expert advice on interpretation of funding body terms and conditions and in particular eligible project costs; prepare and review project financial costing scenarios to optimise budget based on the full Economic Costing (fEC) methodology, including the calculation of salary costs and overhead;
- Provide guidance to Pis on the use of various electronic grant application systems; ensure compliance with funding body terms and conditions as well as compliance with University policy and procedure; co-ordinate grant submissions to meet funding body deadlines, including complex multi-disciplinary and/or multi-centre submissions; responsible for approving online applications on behalf of the University;
- Administration of grant awards
- Liaise with colleagues in Research and Innovation Services and/or TASC legal for contractual requirements for awards; liaise with academic staff on all aspects of the grant application/awards procedure; liaise with School Research Administrative Leads to optimise processes and reporting requirements in relation to research awards management
