An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking Physiotherapist with relevant experience to lead the cardiorespiratory medicine team within our dynamic Physiotherapy service at North Bristol NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be the team lead ensuring the delivery of a high quality Physiotherapy Service across the Cardiorespiratory Medicine wards, ED, resus, Acute admission unit as well as in reaching in to Intensive care as required . This post will also be part of the Medicine Physiotherapy Pathway supporting the development of the service including working as part of the on call management team to support the education, training and roster admin.
The post holder will provide highly specialist assessment and interventions for a busy and varied caseload demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning skills and with specific knowledge of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. This role also will support training of staff to gain on call competencies both on rotation and as part of on call duties.
They will take a lead in multi-disciplinary activities and have highly developed specialist knowledge and communicate complex condition related information to patients, relative and Carers. The role will include supporting complex acute patients include a busy HDU ward areas respiratory ward area and assisting in facilitating timely discharges to be achieved by the service.
The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Leadership Team to support and further develop the Physiotherapy Service and manage the day to day running of the team.

- To undertake the role of a team leader to plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the physiotherapy areas covered by the cardiorespiratory team.
- To work as an autonomous, highly skilled clinician, to provide a specialised service of physiotherapy including assessment, treatment, advice and education for patients, carers/families and staff on the appropriate wards
- To be the physiotherapy lead within the multidisciplinary team providing specialist advice to other professionals and working closely with the Consultants and MDT to formulate appropriate management plans for patients.
- To provide appropriate training and education to other Health care professionals, other physiotherapists and students within the team. To be an expert resource within the physiotherapy service for cardiorespiratory medicine ward patients including chronic respiratory, neuromuscular patients, Non invasive ventilation, CPAP and tracheostomy weaning.
- To work with and deputise for the Pathway Lead Physiotherapist and Head of Physiotherapy as appropriate.
- To be able to identify and lead relevant service development in team, service, and division as appropriate.

Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential criteria- Degree or Equivalent Physiotherapy/HCPC
- Significant CPD in cardiorespiratory medicine
- On call experience
- Masters level learning or equivalent experience
- MCSP
Work Experience
Essential criteria- Significant Band 6 physiotherapy experience in cardiorespiratory medicine
- Experience of complex discharge planning and working with Community Partners
- MDT working
- Ability and experience of recognising and treating the deteriorating ward patient
- Service development including QI audit, research
- Supervision of staff and students
- Teaching experience - IST, UG etc
- Time Management
- Team lead experience
- Teaching in areas
- Tracheostomy management including decannulation experience
- Research/QI work
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Essential criteria- Broad knowledge of current best practice across cardiorespiratory medicine
- Applied knowledge of current guidelines informing practice in specialist area
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Applied knowledge of the principles of quality governance
