Clinical Fellow in Haematology, Stem Cell Transplant and Oncology

We are one of the largest haematology-oncology-BMT unit in the UK and trainees will learn to investigate and manage a wide range of common and rare conditions. The appointees will be expected to rotate through inpatient and outpatient oncology, neuro-oncology, malignant and benign haematology (haemophilia and haemoglobinopathy), and stem cell transplant.
These rotations are distinct firms to allow the trainee to be immersed in the subspeciality areas and gain in depth exposure to the case load.Training will be provided as required for the postholder who will be expected to perform the following duties on a regular basis: Ward round and clinical care of inpatients.
Review of unwell haematology / transplant/ oncology drop-in patients. Bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy. Diagnostic lumbar puncture. Therapeutic lumbar puncture and the administration of intrathecal chemotherapy. Review of patients in leukaemia and oncology treatment clinics.
Prescription of chemotherapy for patients attending treatment clinics and receiving inpatient chemotherapy. Supervision of ST2/3 and Trust doctors in the care of haematology / oncology patients. Out of hours cover for Haematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant patients in the evening and weekends (on a rotation basis).
