An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist in a busy but friendly Biochemistry laboratory in the Bury/Rochdale/Oldham Sector of NCA Foundation Trust. Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team and work across a range of sections where you will receive thorough training and gain experience in a wide range of techniques.
Main duties of the job
The Northern Care Alliance Foundation NHS Trust is one of the largest non-teaching NHS Trusts in the UK and the Biochemistry service processes over 10 million tests per annum. The department is well equipped with new Siemens Atellica systems, Sebia Capillarys & Hydrasys protein electrophoresis equipment, HM-JACKarc analyser for FIT testing and IL blood gas analysers.The department is fully computerised with Clinisys LabCentre and Siemens ADM middleware.
The custom built, state of the art Central Service Laboratory at The Royal Oldham Hospital opened in March 2007 and also serves the trust sites at Fairfield General Hospital, Bury and Rochdale Infirmary. There is an Essential Service Laboratory at Fairfield General Hospital.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist
- IBMS Specialist Portfolio or equivalent in Biochemistry/Willing to work towards IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Biochemistry
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential criteria- Computer literacy
- Good communication skills
- Awareness of confidentiality issues
- Awareness of health and safety issues
- Experience in an NHS Biochemistry Laboratory
- Experience and knowledge in quality matters
Other
Essential criteria- Willingness to undertake the internal departmental training program
- Flexible approach to working patterns
- Experience in out of hours working
