Our Library Clerk will assist in maintaining a high standard of support service to the directorates and departments throughout Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, with their requirements regarding patients’ case notes.

Main duties of the job
  • Delivering high volumes of patient records to various departments around the Hospital
  • Adhering to the Health Records delivery schedule
  • Involve repetitive heavy lifting of patient records in boxes and bags
  • When working in the library there will be an expectation to retrieve and file
case notes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to work under pressure both independently and as a team player

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Maintain accuracy when pulling and filing case notes within the Health Records Library
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Pulling and filing of case notes within the Health Records Library
  • Tracering, sending and delivering case notes in Medical Records boxes/bags
  • Delivering and collecting case notes from various pick up points throughout the hospital
  • Moving boxes of records to dispatch areas
  • Answer and action requests from the A&E telephone
  • Cover the service desk and action requests
  • Locating misfiled notes within the Records Library

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills and telephone manner
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • The ability to work under pressure
Desirable criteria
  • NHS Experience

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • Good level of general education
  • Basic knowledge of computerised systems
  • Keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
  • Full driving licence
