To work within the NMC code of professional practice, and within policies, procedures and guidelines of Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust. Ensure a culture of ongoing learning for all midwives In conjunction with ward managers, midwifery matrons and practice development midwife plan individual training needs/competency assessments for midwives in their first year of professional practice.
Contribute proactively to the womens directorate and organizational planning for the training needs of the midwifery workforce. In conjunction with the recruitment and retention lead midwife monitor the provision of preceptorship for the midwifery workforce at CHFT.
Take a lead clinical role in the support of midwives in their first eighteen months of clinical practice undergoing skills training, providing advice, guidance and feedback until the trainee reaches competency To assist in the delivery of clinical skills training to Registered Practitioners in maternity services To work clinically with midwives during their preceptorship period to develop their clinical skills & knowledge at ward level and to achieve recognised competencies.
Create robust communication networks for practice learning between the clinical educators, professional development midwife and ward managers. Present a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic role model, providing leadership guidance and advice on strategic, operational and professional issues.
