Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare within Somerset for 10 years and we have a new job opportunity for a Band 3 Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the processing of clinical specimens within our Histology department at Musgrove Park Hospital.

Hours: 37.5hrs / Mon-Fri / 7am-8pm (7.5hr shifts covering Early, Core and Late shifts)

Responsibilities:

  • To prepare and process clinical specimens for Histological testing.
  • To work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times.
  • To perform all designated duties in accordance with local working practices, to maintain high personal standards and conform to Health and Safety regulations.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • NVQ3, or equivalent level of knowledge - a minimum requirement of 3 GCSEs to include English, Maths and at least one Science subject.
  • Good degree of accuracy & numeracy.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of levels of staff within the laboratory and user organisations.
  • Good developed interpersonal and team working abilities.
