Transport Officer - Parking Controls

Salary: £37,626 - £44,257

Hours: 36 per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Network Management and Enforcement for the permanent appointment of a performance driven Transport Officer within the Council’s Parking Control’s team to support the delivery and maintenance of a wide range of parking management schemes aimed at improving safety, reducing congestion and providing parking opportunities for a range of road users.

Fulfilling a key role within the Parking and Traffic Regulation service area, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic and will be able to progress a challenging and varied workload. The Parking Control’s team are responsible for managing requests for significant numbers of new Yellow Line restrictions from across the city and managing the Council’s Disabled Persons Parking Places and Access Protection Marking services.

The Parking Control’s team also have responsibility for progressing amendments to the existing Controlled Parking Zones as well as the Strategic Review of Parking, which provides the foundation for considering new Controlled Parking Zones across the city.

Although the successful candidate will be expected to work to support all of the services, this role will have a particular focus on the Council’s Strategic Review of Parking and requests for Parking Controls within the city. This will cover all aspects of Parking Control management, from overseeing the removal and implementation of new parking signage, road markings and other Parking Control’s infrastructure as required.

The post holder will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring works carried out by external contractors are completed to a high standard and will be expected to oversee customer and stakeholder communications.

The post holder will be expected to prepare briefing notes and committee reports on parking control matters, as required by elected members and the Senior Transport Team Leader. The successful candidate should have experience of leading teams and/or projects.

They will be able to maintain high levels of accuracy, and to balance competing priorities in order to meet challenging deadlines. They will also have excellent written and verbal skills and will be experienced in successfully managing and resolving sometimes difficult customer interactions.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
