Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

We are recruiting for a part time Facilities Operative at Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital (QVMH), Herne Bay Kent, contracted 15 hrs per week.

The rota is currently Monday to Friday 5pm to 8pm

Experience within the Commercial Cleaning industry is welcomed but not essential as training will be provided

Your hourly rate in this role will be £12.92. Bank Holidays will attract an enhanced hourly pay.

Main duties of the job

This is primarily a hands-on cleaning position where you will learn all the back-ground skills and knowledge to enable you to complete the role, e.g. enhanced and periodic clean training, NHS National Cleaning standards, completion of paperwork, equipment training, COSHH, waste management and basic catering tasks

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education including literacy and numeracy
Desirable criteria
  • Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of good hygiene
  • Understanding of written and verbal English language
  • Basic knowledge of IT skills

  • Knowledge of NHS Cleaning Standards 2025
