We are proud to be working with a well-regarded all-age SEMH school in Shrewsbury to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to join a supportive environment focused on both academic progress and the emotional, social, and behavioural development of its pupils.
The successful Behaviour Support Assistant will work with students aged 5-16 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. You will play a crucial role in supporting their personal development and ensuring access to a broad and balanced curriculum across Key Stages 1-5.
This long-term position requires a proactive, compassionate, and adaptable individual who is keen to make a positive impact on students' lives while contributing to the wider school community.- Provide one-to-one and group support for pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviours.
- Assist with the implementation of personalised support plans.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Support the teaching of both academic subjects and activities that promote emotional and behavioural development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to maintain high levels of student engagement and progress.
- Experience working with children with SEMH and challenging behaviours.
- A Level 2 or 3 CACHE qualification (or equivalent).
- A Team-Teach or MAPA qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to managing challenging situations.
