St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Chronic Pain Service is looking for a Band 7 Clinical / Counselling / Health Psychologist to join our experienced multidisciplinary team . The post is based at The Phoenix Centre, providing specialist input for clients with complex pain presentations.

You will work as a member of the Chronic Pain Self Management Team, alongside clinical & counselling psychologists, physiotherapists and a CNS, and liaise closely with medical colleagues in the Chronic Pain Service.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a Clinical / Counselling / Health Psychologist to develop assessment and intervention (group and individual) skills with people presenting with a wide range of chronic pain conditions and associated co-morbidities.
Input can be delivered jointly with MDT colleagues or on a unidisciplinary basis. Supervision will be provided by an experienced clinical psychologist and there are opportunities to work flexibly, drawing on CBT, ACT and CFT models. Within the post there are also opportunities to develop supervision and case consultation skills and to be involved in audit and service development projects.

The service actively promotes user involvement via social media, co-designed events and consultation on service development.

Under the supervision of the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, to deliver high quality clinical / counselling psychology input to the Chronic Pain Service. This will include providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy (group and individual), offering advice and consultation on psychological aspects of pain management to other health professionals, and supporting other clinical team members to provide care based on psychological theories and principles.

The post holder will follow professional guidelines and work

within the overall framework of the policies and procedures of the Chronic Pain Self Management Team and the wider Chronic Pain Service. The post holder will be expected to participate in audit, research and service development projects within the Chronic Pain Service.

The post holder will also be involved in the training and continuing professional development of clinical psychologists and other health professionals.

Members of the Department provide Neuropsychology services in Acute, Tertiary, Vocational and Community Rehabilitation settings for patients with acquired neurological disorders, their families and carers. Clinical Health Psychology (CHP) services are provided to cancer, palliative care, diabetes, renal medicine, haematology, HIV, major trauma, maxillofacial services and bariatrics / weight management.
