Service Lead - Biochemistry
The successful applicant will be accountable for the delivery of the clinical technical service. You will be tasked with managing the department, providing a high quality and comprehensive 24 hour pathology service. HCA Laboratories has over 35 years experience in providing pathology services, for acute care in our HCA Hospitals, IVF Clinics, Insurance work, healthcare screening and GP services.
We cover all disciplines in pathology including allergy, biochemistry and endocrinology, haematology and blood transfusion, histopathology and cytology, immunology, and microbiology and serology, with each laboratory equipped with the best available analytical instrumentation.
Duties & responsibilities: Providing a clinical technical service for a single discipline. Maintain financial accountability within the Chemistry department Manage all non-clinical staff within the Chemistry department as well as the equipment within Assessment and management of consumables and equipment.
Ensure the quality of analytical testing including management of effective quality control and quality assurance procedures Ensure that required accreditations are maintained (UKAS, MHRA, HTA, etc). Ensure that operations are compliant with regulations (eg.
HSE, COSHH, GDPR, etc). Monitor workloads and manage staffing allocation to deliver service needs. Performance management of staff, ensuring staff are compliant/properly trained and have regularly performance reviews and PDPs. Develop and maintain laboratory documentation.

What you will bring: Must hold HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist Usually minimum 6-7 years post-registration experience Holds IBMS Specialist Diploma in a specified discipline, or equivalent qualification/experience MSc level qualification FIBMS/ Chartered Scientist or equivalent experience Management qualification desirable, or willing to work towards Why HCA UK?
