Gatehouse School is seeking a highly motivated part-time teacher with extensive experience of working with highly academic and most able pupils. This teacher will work alongside the SENDCo and Inclusion Coordinator, and be proactive, innovative and hardworking, with a track record of improving student outcomes and working effectively within well-established teams.

The successful candidate will have extremely high standards, excellent communication skills, the ability to inspire pupils and colleagues and a track record of outstanding teaching.

The successful candidate will:

  • Identifying More Able, Gifted and Talented pupils
  • Planning provision for More Able, Gifted and Talented pupils
  • Teach 1:1 and small group lessons
  • Undertake classroom observations
  • Checklists for effective use of the learning environment
  • To generate a More Able, Gifted and Talented cohort register and make this available to all staff
  • To review the register, maintain a shadow register and oversee the monitoring of and interventions for underachieving More Able, Gifted and Talented pupils
  • To audit, research and purchase suitable More Able, Gifted and Talented pupils resources
  • To seek opportunities beyond the school to develop More Able, Gifted and Talented learners
  • To inform staff of any More Able, Gifted and Talented pupils issues
  • To be available to discuss development plans with colleagues
  • To monitor and evaluate all aspects of the More Able, Gifted and Talented provision within the school
  • To offer teaching and learning strategies which challenge the More Able, Gifted and Talented pupils and are in-line with the National Curriculum and the school’s long-term plans
  • Work effectively with a range of identified needs, including Autism, ADHD, SALT and OT
