DIO - Commissioning Manager - Security Services Group - Leicester

SSG is seeking a skilled Commissioning Manager to join our Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) support team. Based primarily at AWE Aldermaston, with an option to work from the Shrivenham Defence Academy, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical Defence projects across the Reading region.
As the Commissioning Manager, you will play a key role in delivering professional, efficient, and cost-effective support for security system installation and maintenance. You’ll represent SSG at high-level external meetings, manage commissioning processes, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning Management: Oversee the end-to-end commissioning process, from documentation to execution.Planning & Strategy: Develop and implement commissioning plans and ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Testing Oversight: Manage HIT, FAT, STW, and SAT procedures, setting performance metrics and success criteria.
Team Leadership: Lead and guide the commissioning team, providing technical expertise and support.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with project managers, engineers, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations and alignment with objectives.
Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to ensure safe and efficient commissioning.
Performance Monitoring: Track progress, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions to keep projects on schedule.
Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) requirements and provide necessary documentation.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of commissioning procedures, test results, and system configurations.
Ad-Hoc Support: Provide additional support to the DNO Operations Team and the wider SSG as needed.
Location and Travel Requirements
Work is primarily based at SSG customer sites in the Reading geographic region. You will be required to travel across the region to multiple Governmental and Military sites. You may be provided with a non-liveried company vehicle to work in your region and with personal use (eligible for taxable benefit).Due to operational needs, there will be occasions where detached duty is required. This may involve staying overnight at locations that are an unsuitable distance from your home address.
Allowances
Where applicable, allowances are provided, including:
Market Skills Allowance: £1800 per year in addition to base salary
Travel Time (for travel outside of core hours)Recall-to-duty when returning to work unexpectedly
Environmental (Radiation) allowance as applicable
Travel and Subsistence for out-of-region and overtime assignments.

Employment Hours
You will be contracted to work 37 hours a week, typically between 08:00-16:00, however through the above allowances, you will have the opportunity to increase your potential earnings.
Security Clearance
Once onboarded, the successful candidate will be put through the application process to achieve the higher Developed Vetting security clearance level.
