Senior Commercial Lawyer sought to lead a Local Authority Commercial and Employment Team and handle a caseload of commercial work.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Local Authority Commercial and Employment Team, including lawyers and support staff.Oversee caseloads related to commercial contracts, employment law, and other legal matters.
Provide strategic guidance to ensure efficient service delivery.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts.
Offer advice on existing and proposed commercial arrangements.
Resolve commercial disputes and ensure compliance with procurement legislation.
Advise on employment-related legal issues, including contracts, policies, and procedures.
Represent the council in employment tribunals when necessary.
Collaborate with various council departments and liaise with external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Qualified as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive.
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of public procurement and subsidy control.
Experience:
Demonstrable experience in local authority commercial work and employment law.
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication and leadership skills.Strategic thinker with the ability to provide balanced risk-based advice.
