Youth Worker
36 hours a week over 40 weeks per year, Term Time Only
South Thames College have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker to be part of a high performing Student Support team. The postholder will work in close liaison with students, staff and external organisations to contribute to a wide-ranging student enrichment programme.
Through an enrichment programme, you will either directly deliver, help support, arrange and organise activities for a large number of students that supports them to engage with the wider community of college life and the preparation of life in society.You should have a key interest in relevant activities which may include sport, that can be delivered to students.You will have experience of delivering workshops/tutorials around a range of subjects that provide students predominately aged 16-19 to make informed choices.
With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with a wide range of customers, you will have proven experience of working with young people to challenge behaviour where required, reinforce student to attend and be on time to lessons and signpost to relevant services where required.
You will be responsible for overseeing a safeguarding cohort as part of the college safeguarding team, a core function of the Student Support Services division, which may mean meeting students regularly, attending relevant internal and external meetings with other professionals.
You should be able to work independently but also proactively as part of an existing team, to enhance the overall experience of students.We’d like our Youth Worker to have strong IT skills to effectively market and record all service provision and demonstrate excellent communication skills to engage students, staff and other stakeholders
A Level 3 qualification (Youth & Community, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care) is essential.
