Patient Safety Specialist

To carry responsibility for developing policy and procedurein the area the job holder is currently working on at a point in time, including briefings, commissioning, business or resources. Responsible for proposing and drafting changes, implementation and interpretation to policies and guidelines which may impact within Department or Directorate.
Champion equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and ensure that activities take account of EDI requirements. The postholder will coordinate and support local patient safety priorities and will help with the implementation of the NHS patient safety strategy and other national safety priorities.
The post holder will liaise closely with the national network as it also provides a key function in supporting the rapid response to major emerging patient safety issues communicated to providers and commissioners through National Patient Safety Alerts or other formal routes.
