Downsend Sixth will have a different feel to other more traditional sixth form experiences, housed in its own newly renovated space near the centre of Leatherhead, there will remain a connection with the rest of the Downsend community, but students will have a much greater chance to cultivate independence, maturity and a real opportunity for personal growth.

The building will have state of the art technology and facilities that will allow all students to develop and flourish.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of A Level Psychology and Sociology. The ideal candidate will plan, develop, and deliver high-quality lessons using various approaches to enhance teaching and learning. You will work closely with the Sixth Form team, participate in enrichment activities, trips, and events, and may have the opportunity for a full-time role if you can offer additional subjects.

Teachers should support and challenge students to boost self-esteem, employ diverse teaching styles, and maintain records of attendance, progress, behavior, and achievement. Collaboration with other staff members to develop new initiatives and policies is also expected.

Who we are looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 5
  • An outstanding and qualified Psychology and Sociology Teacher with a love of their subjects
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and use of ICT)
  • Enthusiastic commitment to the important of co-curricular activities in providing an outstanding education
