The appointed Consultant Neuroradiologists will:

  • Contribute to the high-quality consultant-led neuroradiology service provided at UHS.
  • Share in the 24/7 cover of the service
  • Develop specialist skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and support regional tertiary services.
  • Along with their consultant colleagues, provide clinical supervision of radiology residents.

Some duties may be provided by offsite working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

What we’re looking for

Enthusiastic and motivated colleagues to join our group! The ideal candidates will posses the following:
  • Full GMC Registration.
  • CCT in Radiology (or expected within 6 months of date of interview) and/or entry on the Specialist Register in Clinical Radiology.
  • Completed general training in Radiology and specialist training in Neuroradiology (Diagnostic and/or Interventional) at a recognised centre.
  • Experience and skills in a subspecialist area of neuroradiology and willingness to develop these aspects further.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and to supervise and support resident doctors.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and training.
  • Understanding of and willingness to participate in clinical governance and audit activities.
  • An appropriate level of leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal abilities to be effective in the role of consultant diagnostic neuroradiologist in a large teaching hospital.

Qualifications, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • FRCR or equivalent
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • Completed general training in Radiology, and training in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at specialist level in a recognised centre
  • Training and experience in Interventional Neuroradiology
Desirable criteria
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register / Admission to the Register within 6 months of interview
  • Publications in Neuroradiological Journals
  • MRCP or MRCS
  • ECNR
  • Experience in myelography
  • Experience with elective carotid/vertebral artery stenting
  • Experience with spinal injections
  • Publications in Neuroradiological Journals
  • nclusion on the Specialist Register / Admission to the Register within 6 months of interview
  • Experience in advanced imaging techniques related to Neuroradiology
  • Experience in Fluoro-guided LP and myelography
  • Experience with spinal injections

  • Research Skills: Publication of research articles, demonstrating understanding of research methodology and commitments
