Senior Business Development Manager - Renewables

Our client is a leading international services provider to the renewable energy sector who manage a portfolio of onshore wind, solar PV, and BESS assets for its investment fund clients across Europe.

They are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager, with expert sales skills and knowledge of the renewable energy market.

Role

You will work closely with the technical team and related stakeholders and will be responsible for the following areas:

New Business Development
  • Find potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Cold call as appropriate to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organisation.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s practice leaders/Principals.
  • Build offers and pricing for the solutions/services proposed to clients.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasising agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
Client Relation
  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Engineering background is a plus e.g. perform ability to perform technical tasks when technical team is busy (e.g. site inspection, contract review, etc.)
  • Attend exhibitions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • More specifically, the U.K Business developer will be responsible for a portfolio of clients based in United Kingdom.
  • The role will involve regular travel across Europe.
Marketing
  • Supervise the attendance to all events in the area (conference, exhibitions, etc.)
  • Set up and manage the sales and marketing budget in the area
Requirements
  • Demonstrate at least 5 years of success in a sales role.
  • Experience in a services sales function with experience in the renewables sector (wind, solar or BESS) in UK.
  • Engineering qualification, followed by an MBA, OR a business degree with renewables experience. (desirable)
