We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant (TA) with British Sign Language (BSL) skills to join our team in Sunderland. This role will involve providing essential support to pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) who require communication assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with hearing impairments by using British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication.
- Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce learning and assist with curriculum activities.
- Promote confidence and independence in students with additional communication needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure the best support for students.
Requirements:
- BSL Qualification (minimum Level 2, Level 3+ preferred).
- Experience working with children in an educational setting.
- A strong understanding of KS1 and KS2 curriculum.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
