Location: Manchester (hybrid)

Duration: 12 months contract

Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant on a 12 months contract for a growing and dynamic services company based in Manchester city centre.

This profitable division is part of a listed and world leading organisation which has gone from strength to strength. The company has seen significant growth over the past few years and will now be looking to further advance through organic growth as well as via acquisitions.

This role is available at an exciting time and the successful candidate will play a major part in supporting the Finance Manager in assisting in the preparation and reporting of high quality financial information, including undertaking and actively managing various key month end processes.

In addition, you will be tasked to support and drive continuous improvement initiatives and automation, in addition to enhancing the control environment.

General responsibilities include:-
  • Contribution to the month and quarter close process in line with company policies and timetables.
  • Ownership of key month end deliverables, for example a subset of the tasks below:
  • monthly affiliate pack, including cash flow
  • quarterly reporting into Group (incl IFRS17)
  • oversight of balance sheets, ensuring understanding and control of balances
  • tax balances, including calculating and posting of corporation tax estimates, and completion of Insurance Premium Tax and VAT returns
  • oversight of cash management
  • Working cross-function to set IBNR reserves
  • Production of insightful financial analysis, including expense analysis and supporting the planning and forecasting process
  • Ownership of balance sheet accounts ensuring understanding and control of balances.
  • Provide Financial support and respond to ad-hoc requests from key stakeholders across the business.
  • Represent finance on various current and future projects relating to both the team and wider business.
  • Adhering to robust and compliant accounting processes to ensure accurate reporting of both the P&L and Balance sheet.
  • Commitment to personal development in order to meet both current and future requirements of the business.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) making their first move from a professional practice firm (only if you have experience in accounts preparation - candidates from a 100% audit background wouldn't be suitable) or from a similar role with previous relevant financial services or insurance industry experience would be desirable.

You will have a experience of balance sheet reconciliations, double entry, dealing with large volumes of data and being able to identify and drive continuous improvement activities.

You will possess good leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and support teams across finance coupled with building positive relationships with teams and leaders across the business to work collaboratively.

If you consider yourself to be a committed, career driven professional who can demonstrate the above experience and who would welcome the stimulus of this commercial finance post then we would be pleased to hear from you.
