Your role and responsibilities

The HR Operations Senior Payroll Specialist performs day to day HR transactions for the Payroll Service Line supporting the UK and Ireland group of Payrolls, handling also complex calculations, enquiries and escalated tasks. They are held accountable for the end-to-end payroll operations ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing support and guidance to customers and colleagues, whilst also delivering high-quality services against globally agreed performance targets.

The Senior Payroll Specialist ensures a high degree of customer experience by committing to a complete, accurate and timely completion of HR transactions. They support the globally set standards for HR Operations and ensure that the local legal and regulatory requirements are adhered to the respective business processes in a HR Operations Front Office / Hub.

Main Accountabilities:
  • Executes and delivers HR services in compliance with agreed business processes, KPI and quality targets in a timely, accurate and costumer focused manner, showing an end-to-end responsibility.
  • Complies with and autonomously performs control tasks, including 4-eye-check / SOX checks, data protection and country legal / regulatory compliance tasks and adheres to AskHR Way of Working.
  • Is accountable for maintaining a high level of data quality and accuracy in the systems as well as documentation such as e.g. SOP’s.
  • Handle complex calculations, enquiries, and escalated tasks related to payroll.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and agencies for payroll-related matters
  • Review payroll inputs from various internal sources to ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Ensure compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements
  • Supports other team members with defined tasks and knowledge transfer.
  • Delivers HR services with a high degree of customer orientation and a proactive ‘can-do attitude’.
  • Has the ability to understand different needs of stakeholders and engage with them effectively.
  • Acts as point of contact for inquiries regarding HR related topics and delivers support across one or several Service Line(s).
  • Educates customers in policies, business processes and the correct usage of HR tools.
  • Supports cross collaboration within GBS HR Operations and other HR functions to optimize processes and tools and therewith promoting synergies.
  • Identifies deficiencies of existing business processes and proactively recommends enhancements and/or simplification based on day-to-day experience.
  • Leads certain process improvement activities and participates in various quality control and audit activities.
  • Takes responsibility for the correct handling of RCA’s and escalations and therewith related process improvements.
  • Based on different levels of experience and seniority, proactively acts as an expert in complex business cases/projects by offering profound expertise and knowledge and drives collaboration across different countries and functions.
  • Executes and delivers imperative and crucial assigned HR Services and certain legal responsibilities.
  • Provides guidance to colleagues.
Qualifications for the role
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in payroll processing
  • Advanced technical knowledge related to payroll procedures and practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in payroll software and ERP systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
