Technical Manager

Here’s a chance to join a well-established, independently owned construction contractor that’s genuinely going places. They specialise in delivering high-quality developments across the residential, commercial and care sectors, with a strong reputation for in-house delivery, smart design, and long-term thinking.

Their work is thoughtful, considered and focused on both function and legacy — and they’re continuing to grow.

They currently deliver circa 100 new homes per year and in addition to 6 live sites, they have over 20 in pre-construction.

They’re looking for a Technical Manager (Engineering) to join the team, someone confident with the design and technical process from start to finish. You’ll be working closely with an experienced Design Manager and reporting into the Pre-Construction Manager.

The role is based at their Wrexham head office but involves occasional site visits across North Wales and mid-Wales (so they want someone suitable local to the office & area – they don’t want someone travelling too far), attending meetings and carrying out technical surveys.

Tasks

You’ll be taking the lead on things like:

  • Driving technical delivery from land appraisal through to handover
  • Managing design consultants and technical disciplines across civils, structures and finishes
  • Reading and resolving clashes in drawings, spotting potential build issues early
  • Handling Section agreements, SuDS, planning conditions and regs
  • Running pre-construction programmes and design meetings
  • Getting hands-on with AutoCAD and design software
  • Acting as the technical point of contact for client queries

Requirements

They’re ideally after someone with either main contractor experience in residential or commercial work; Someone who gets both the technical side and the pace of site life.

However, they’d also consider someone from a civils or design engineer consultancy background with 3-5 years experience and looking to transition to the contractor side.

You’ll need to be confident working with structural warranty providers, local authority building control, and engineers of all stripes.

Experience with timber, steel and concrete frames is a real bonus.

Benefits

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys owning their work, being trusted to get on with things and who likes the variety of office and site-based problem-solving.

They’re offering a salary of £55k + package.

Kris Convery is the Director of OJC recruit Ltd, acting on behalf of clients throughout the housebuilding & construction industry. As such, this role is to be permanently employed by my client on a traiditional salaried basis. OJC recruit Ltd would act to introduce & guide you through the recruitment process.
