Teaching Assistant – SEMH School

Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm

Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) school on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.

This role requires strong behaviour management skills, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students who face social and emotional challenges. You will play a key role in helping students re-engage with education, develop positive behaviours, and feel supported in a nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and classroom support, keeping students engaged and focused on learning.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive learning space.
  • Build strong relationships with students, offering patience, understanding, and guidance.
  • Support teachers in delivering lessons, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
  • Help students manage emotions and behaviours in a healthy and constructive way.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help tailor support.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in an SEMH or SEN setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience to provide consistent, high-quality support.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
