Lead Document Controller

About the role:
As a Lead Document Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth management of critical documentation within client operations. Acting as the primary point of contact for document control activities, you will oversee the validation, distribution, and management of both electronic and hard copy documents, ensuring compliance and effective information flow.You will lead and mentor a team of document controllers, providing system training and support to the business. This role offers the opportunity to make impactful improvements to document control processes while ensuring that safety-critical documentation is efficiently managed and available when needed.
Here's what the role looks like:
- Serving as the Asset Document Control Focal Point, maintaining effective communication with clients
- Managing electronic document systems, validating contractor submissions, and facilitating review processes
- Overseeing hard copy documentation storage, distribution, and archiving
- Auditing controlled documents to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities
- Providing leadership and training to the document control team to enhance operational efficiency
Requirements
Here are the key skills and experience relevant to this role:
- Proven background in leading document control teams and creating an efficient working environment
- Advanced knowledge of engineering and design document types
- Extensive experience with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) from an operator or vendor site
- Ability to ensure effective information flow between end users and management systems
- Experience managing hard copy documentation across onsite and offsite archive locations
- Proven ability to identify service improvement opportunities and initiate delivery mechanisms
- Excellent mentoring, organisational, and presentation skills
- Ability to provide regular updates to stakeholders and communicate effectively across all levels
- Experience managing assets through their lifecycle is beneficial
