An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to join the NIHR PenARC Team, within the Community and Primary Care Research Group. You’ll have the opportunity to lead on the delivery and continuous development of high impact, customer focused, creative and efficient communications and marketing.

This post is funded by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South West Peninsula (PenARC), one of fifteen collaborations funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to address local health and care questions of national importance.

You will work closely with members of the PenARC team across both the University of Plymouth and University of Exeter to support stakeholder and internal communications across the NIHR, partner organisations and the Universities.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining communication channels to ensure relevant audiences are kept up to date with news and priorities as appropriate, as well as creating and managing a variety of communication plans and campaigns using digital, written and face to face communications.

You will manage the implementation and delivery of project level communication plans and campaigns including generating news stories, producing emails and copy for publications, print media, social media, multimedia (such as video) and websites.

In collaboration with the media and digital teams, you will support the use of all relevant internal communication channels.

Applicants will be educated to degree level or hold equivalent experience and will possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until 31st March 2026 due to funding. Applications from candidates wishing to work part-time hours will be considered.

Remote working is available up to 2 days a week.

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
