We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Lecturer to join our academic team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging and practical lessons in sports studies, helping students develop the skills, knowledge, and fitness needed for successful careers in the sports industry.As a Sports Lecturer, you will inspire students to pursue their passion for sports while providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Delivery: Design, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in sports studies, covering topics such as sports science, coaching, physical education, and sports management.
- Assessment & Feedback: Develop and deliver assessments to monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to help students reach their academic and personal goals.
- Student Support: Provide tailored support to students, helping them to improve their practical skills, knowledge, and understanding of sports-related subjects.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development of the sports curriculum, ensuring it reflects current trends, industry standards, and best practices.
- Practical Sessions: Supervise and guide students through practical sports sessions, promoting teamwork, physical fitness, and skill development.
- Classroom Management: Maintain an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment, encouraging student participation, discipline, and respect.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A degree in Sports Science, Sports Studies, Physical Education, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- A relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Proven experience teaching sports or physical education, ideally within Further Education or higher education settings.
- Strong knowledge of sports science, fitness principles, coaching techniques, and sports management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- A passion for sports and a commitment to fostering students' personal and academic development.
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
- Experience in coaching or managing sports teams.
- Ability to integrate real-world sports scenarios and industry examples into lessons.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and student needs.
- A proactive, student-centred approach to teaching and academic support.
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in the sports industry.
