Senior Analyst - Post Office Redress Analysis
The case showed that Horizon was flawed and that the Post Office had acted unfairly. The Courts subsequently overturned over 100 convictions; in an unprecedented move, Parliament has overturned hundreds more. The Department for Business and Trade is now paying hundreds of millions of pounds in redress to those affected.
The work is high profile and fast-paced, including responding to very regular interest from both Houses of Parliament and to regular scrutiny in the media. Joining the team is a chance to make a big difference to the hundreds of people who have suffered a great injustice.
The Post Office Horizon Redress Unit is the team within the Department of Business and Trade set up to deliver on the Government's commitment to compensate individuals who have been wronged by the Post Office scandal. This work is one of the Department’s highest priorities and biggest challenges.The work is subject to high levels of public, parliamentary and press scrutiny. The Government has committed to getting redress out of the door to individuals as rapidly as possible and so the Unit will need to work at pace and be highly effective if it is to deliver on this ambitious commitment.

Our Team
The roles will be within the Post Office, Consumer and Creative Industries analysis team, a multidisciplinary team consisting of approximately 20 analysts that supports both Post Office redress and long-term strategic decision-making around the future of the British high street.This is a high-profile team, delivering important work at pace, and offering fantastic opportunities for exposure, growth, and development. You will be a self-starting, highly organised individual who can be entrusted to work professionally with high energy.
We are recruiting for up to 2 highly motivated senior analysts (SEO equivalent) to work in the recently expanded Post Office, Consumer and Creative Industries Analysis deputy director-led team; a multi-disciplinary, diverse and vibrant team of around 20 analysts.
These roles will assist with the delivery of compensation to individuals wrongly persecuted and prosecuted in relation to the Post Office Horizon IT scandal, helping to ensure that wronged postmasters receive fair redress. This work is one of the Department’s highest priorities and biggest challenges and is subject to high levels of public, parliamentary and press scrutiny.
We report into the Policy Director for the Post Office Directorate, working closely with the variety of policy, delivery, finance, legal, commercial and communications colleagues within the team as well as analytical counterparts at Post Office limited.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing financial modelling to improve cost estimates for redress and the legal and administrative costs of delivery accounting for a range of uncertainties including potential claimant behaviours Updating these models to reflect out-turn and support financial planning by the department.
- Supporting Post Office Limited in the delivering the same by working with their own in-house modelling capability and counterpart programme delivery teams.
- Providing cost-benefit/Value for Money analysis to inform decision-making around scheme design and delivery in support of decision-making within the Department for Business and Trade and HM Treasury and ensuring management information is captured and is suitable for incorporation into the programme’s monthly transparency data publication.
- Produce compelling analysis and visualisation of data (for example, dashboards) to provide actionable insights to technical, policy and operational colleagues. Presenting these clearly for non-technical audiences.
- Manage and maintain data, ensuring it aligns to the Government’s data standards, is protected and used in line with established governance.
As an integral member of the team, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis, generating insights and learning as well as providing recommendations for how to improve future post office redress delivery.
