We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated radiology care assistants to join our multidisciplinary team to assist qualified nurses, radiographers and radiologists in providing high quality care in our very busy radiology departments at GHNHSFT, providing imaging services to patients from all walks of life.
The successful candidate will develop specific skills and competencies to support our teams 24/7.
We have recently undergone a £6.5m equipment replacement programme on the Cheltenham General site, as well as significant investment on the Gloucestershire Royal site forming an Image Guided Interventional Service (IGIS) and fit for the future project.These initiatives ensure we are able to continue in offering exceptional patient care 24/7.
Our team is also focused on career progression and we offer three routes for our care assistants:
- in house training leading to expertise within Radiology and pay progression within the RCA role
- Trainee Assistant Practitioner program towards a career in Radiography
- Trainee Nurse Associate program towards a career as a Registered Nurse
Main duties of the job
This is a front line position and you will often be the first health care worker that the patients see in our department so it is therefore essential that you are a good communicator and can greet each individual with respect and dignity.

- meet and greet patients upon arrival, making them feel safe and secure in our care across all hospitals within the Trust including the CDC
- prepare patients for their examinations. this includes providing clear instruction, assisting with changing, cannulation and radiation protection screening
- perform administrative and house keeping tasks to facilitate effective service delivery
- monitoring patients for the duration of their visit, including vital signs observations as required
- transfer of patients to and from the department as well as in and out of examination rooms and onto specific imaging tables.
- contribute to a clean and safe department, complying with policies and reporting faults quickly
- working within a multidisciplinary team to provide essential services to almost every patient that visits the hospital

Qualifications / Experience
Essential criteria- Desire to help people
- Caring and Compassionate
- Basic IT skills
- GCSE Maths and English C or equivalent
- English as first language or International English Language Test (IELTS) certificate
- Previous Healthcare experience
