Copperhill Kennels
We are a small family run business established since 2009. We now require a new member of staff to join our team. We pride ourselves on the care we provide for the animals in our care.We are searching for an attentive, doting kennel attendant to oversee the well-being of the animals in our care. The kennel attendant's responsibilities include cleaning kennels and catteries, administering medication, and providing animals with food and water.
To ensure success as a kennel attendant, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of animals. Ultimately, a top-notch kennel attendant will be able to tailor their care according to animals' physical, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
Kennel Attendant Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times.
- Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels.
- Disposing of trash in a timely manner.
- Grooming, playing with and administering treatment to animals
- Accompanying animals on walks, if required.
- Calming animals who are in distress.
- Adjusting the air temperature to ensure that the animals remain comfortable.
- Reporting significant changes in functioning to the duty manager
- Evacuating all animals if an emergency occurs.
Kennel Attendant Requirements:
- Qualification in animal care
- Previous experience caring for animals will be advantageous.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Physically fit and agile.
- Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.
- A passion for animal welfare.
- Available to work during evenings, and on weekends and public holidays, if required.
- Overnight kennel sitting required once a month
- Assist with the daily care of animals in the kennel, including feeding, watering, and exercising
- Clean and sanitize kennels, catteries, and common areas
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to the duty manager
- Provide basic grooming services such as bathing and brushing
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or duty manager
- Assist with customer service duties such as answering phone calls and assisting pet owners
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
- Strong attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Excellent customer service skills to interact with pet owners in a friendly and professional manner
- Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting or prolonged periods of standing or walking
Please note that this position may require working on weekends or holidays, as animal care is a 24/7 responsibility.
Job Type: Part-timePay: £10.00-£12.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
