Head of Employee Relations (FTC, 12months)
A bit about us:
ClearBank was built on the belief that banking infrastructure would no longer slow down progress. Instead, it’s the catalyst that unlocks the potential to innovate. That’s why our clients; financial institutions; from fintech’s and crypto platforms, to banks and credit unions use our API to power their banking infrastructure.
Your Mission:
ClearBank is a place where you can do things differently and challenge the status quo. We will give you a high level of autonomy and transparency, and we trust you to make the right decisions for the bank. This is Where You Can have impact from day one.
If that excites you, we welcome you to join our Human Resources Team as our Head of Employee Relations. Reporting to the CHRO and as a member of the HR Leadership Team you'll be working on:
- Owning the ER strategy and approach for ClearBank: ensuring that our processes are fair, pragmatic and reflect the culture and values of the bank;
- Developing and implementing employee relations strategies, policies, and procedures to promote a positive work environment and enhance employee engagement;
- Building an ER infrastructure for managers that includes guides, toolkits and templates that empowers managers to own and drive their own processes where appropriate;
- Implementing new approaches and setting the standard for what is expected from line managers on ER topics;
- Delivering training and 121 coaching on employee relations topics, with the aim to increase capability and drive a prevention vs cure approach to ER by sharing best practice;
- Providing guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Acting as an advisor and ensuring we’re complying with employment law and ClearBank policies;
- Advising on changes to employment legislation and implementing changes as needed in response, driving a proactive strategy;
- Owning the reporting and trend analysis of employee relations activities for the various cyclical reporting across the bank (monthly/quarterly);
- Using data driven insight to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to improve employee satisfaction and engagement.
Requirements
What we're looking for:
- Qualified employment lawyer with in-depth knowledge and application of UK employment law and how to apply that within a fast-paced commercial setting;
- To be a self-starter: this is an individual contributor role and you will be driving the agenda across the business for employee relations so the ability to ‘make it happen' sits in your control;
- The ability to think strategically about ER across ClearBank and shape the future of how we operate with a bias to action and hands on approach;
- Extensive experience within employee relations with demonstrable experience on managing complex/high risk cases;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels
- High level of professionalism and integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ideally, you’ll have worked in a regulated banking environment or a fast pace high growth business.
- You focus on solutions and positive outcomes, thinking radically and responsibly to find the best result for our customers, your colleagues and the bank;
- You actively seek feedback from others to drive your growth and development, always assuming positive intent from others and develop strong, trusting relationships you’re your colleagues and customers: you really, genuinely care;
- You always strive for the highest quality, but you know that done is better than perfect; you welcome a challenge knowing that they learn as you go and iterate;
- ‘I’ before ’we’, isn’t in your vocabulary
