This is an opportunity to work alongside registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists to deliver a high standard of clinical care, supporting patients recovering for acute injury or illness. Supporting to achieve a functional level and to facilitate discharge.Sometimes working independently but under guidance and also working jointly as cases dictate.
The posts are based within the Acute Therapy Team, working across all ward and treatment areas within medicine, surgery, orthopaedics and elderly care including Intensive Treatment Unit and occasional visiting patients homes.

The post holder will assist physiotherapists and occupational therapists in the delivery of care to adults referred to the acute inpatient team.
The post holder will work with a variety of adult clients, who have a variety of acute or long term medical illness or disabilities, who often have complex needs and social problems.
Working in a variety of ward and gym areas.
The post holder will often be working alone without direct supervision of the qualified therapist.
They will take responsibility for the on-going treatment of an agreed caseload
To carry out a range of non-clinical duties including admin for any outpatients.
To be responsible for ordering clinical equipment as delegated.

- To carry own caseload of patients, as delegated by the Therapists and use own clinical judgement and knowledge within agreed competencies.
- To carry out initial interviews with own caseload of patients on the ward and carryout ongoing treatment which may include washing and dressing, transfers and mobility practise
- To agree the arrangements for assessment home visits with the occupational therapist which would require a qualified therapist to be present if the patient is being assessed and present during the visit. Environmental or follow up home visits may be carried out alone by the assistant depending on level of complexity of the case.
- To assist the therapists in the care and maintenance of all therapy equipment used including cleaning treatment beds, equipment trolleys and table tops.
- To keep equipment storage areas tidy within the Therapy Department and other therapy treatment areas.
- To assist with clerical duties such as answering the phone, taking messages, processing referrals and booking appointments as appropriate and maintaining paper work as required in the relevant area.
