Regulatory Solicitor
This role offers the chance to work in-house within a utilities sector client, providing expert advice on a wide range of day-to-day legal matters.
What you'll do:
As an In-House Regulatory Solicitor, you will play a pivotal role within our client's On-Site Team. You will act as the go-to expert for regulatory matters relating to various aspects of the utilities sector ideally water. Your responsibilities will extend beyond providing legal advice; you will also manage your own caseload, support other team members, and actively contribute to improving internal processes.Your ability to comply with SLAs and KPIs will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the team.
- Act as subject matter expert for regulatory matters relating to water and waste, water fittings, water resources, street works, charges schemes and drought.
- Manage your own caseload and report to the Head of Legal Service Delivery on case progress.
- Support other team members with their caseload where required.
- Take instructions from the client, gather information and provide clear and concise legal advice.
- Identify ways to add value and improve internal efficiencies, including process improvements.
- Comply with all service level agreements (SLAs) and KPIs.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this In-House Regulatory Solicitor role brings a wealth of experience from working within a regulated sector. With at least seven years' PQE under your belt, you possess detailed knowledge of relevant legislation within the water industry:
- Qualified solicitor with at least 7 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) of working within a regulated sector.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of legislation governing the operational running of a regulated utility company.
- Experience of working independently and managing a small team.
- Organised and good at managing time effectively.
- Ability to work alone with confidence and self-discipline.
- Experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating key legal documents.
