Skills & Experience:

AAT qualified (or equivalent)
Experience in Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable systems and processes.VAT and insurance

At least two years’ demonstrable experience of working in finance including the delivery of a payroll service

Good level of experience in the use of Excel (including use of formulas, pivot tables and lookups; minimum Intermediate or Advanced Excel), Word and integrated financial systems.

Experience of effectively writing/contributing to committee reports.

Good IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) or equivalent
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.

Ability to process and analyse data and information accurately and within specific time frames.

What's involved with this role: You will be responsible for managing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and income management teams as well as the finance assistant who is responsible for insurance on a day to day basis.

As well as the day to day management, you will also be assisting with improvements to the Unit 4 system and making processes more efficient.

Key responsibilities:

Maintain a high standard of customer service throughout the Financial Services team.
Act as a main point of contact for the Council in relation to Financial Services functions.
Act as the authority’s lead for employer related tax and VAT.
Act as one of the Council’s authorised bank signatories.
Administration of the Council’s bank account and Corporate Credit Card and associated online systems.

Supporting the Systems Accountant with the administration and development of the finance systems.
