Attendance Administrator
  • Contract: Permanent, term time only + 10 days to be worked outside of term time

  • Salary: GS3 point 16 £25,832 (FTE), actual salary based on term-time only plus 10 days £21,049.26 (Please note independent schools have longer holiday periods which the pay reflects)
The Grammar School at Leeds is seeking a dedicated and professional Attendance Administrator to play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the school’s attendance procedures. Working closely with the CPOMS and Attendance Officer, pastoral and administrative teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate record-keeping of student attendance, liaising with colleagues and parents, and promoting punctuality across the senior school.

This role is pivotal in supporting student welfare and safeguarding, with daily engagement in monitoring attendance patterns and addressing unexplained absences.

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion. The successful candidate will take a lead role in managing student sign-ins and sign-outs, ensuring all absences are appropriately recorded, and providing clear, professional communication with families and colleagues.

This role also includes coordinating attendance for school activities, contributing to weekly bulletins, and occasionally supporting the student window when required.

Applicants should have substantial administrative experience, preferably within a school environment, and possess strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office. A clear understanding of the needs of pupils in a senior school setting is essential, alongside the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The role requires someone who can analyse attendance data effectively, identify trends, and contribute to the development of systems that promote student attendance and engagement.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is motivated to make a positive impact on student outcomes by ensuring the highest standards of attendance are upheld and championed throughout the school.

GSAL was awarded North Independent School of the Year 2024 and Independent Secondary School of the Decade in 2021 and continues to be a friendly, fun and supportive environment with high investment in pupil and colleague wellbeing, while insisting upon and maintaining high expectations.
