Support Worker – Bristol
We are looking for a support worker to join an established team, working with an 18-year-old young man with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, in the Bitton area of Bristol.
The client lives at home with his parents and enjoys spending time with other family who live nearby.
The client requires specialist equipment to enable him to sit, stand and move around his environment. He requires hoisting for all transfers and full assistance with personal care andall daily tasks. The client is non-verbal and uses eye gaze technology and other communication systems to express basic choices. The client enjoys attending sporting events, particularly football and being in the outdoors. Client also has a hydrotherapy pool on site which is used regularly, therefore it is essential that you are confident in the water.
The role will involve working closely with the client’s family and the case manager to support the client to ensure his quality of life is maximised, as well as implementing high standards of care and consistency.
The support worker will also carry out some administrative duties, follow the health and wellbeing plan, risk assessments and policies and procedures. The right candidate will work well with the pre-existing team and be able to communicate with fellow team members, case managers, therapists, and the family to ensure that the clients daily needs are promoted.
A full UK driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive the client vehicle and be confident in motorway driving.
Previous experience in care is required.
NVQ Level 2 or above in Care is desirable.
The role is offering approximately 16 hours per week for a variety of flexible shift patterns.
£13.65 per hour weekdays£14.70 per hour weekends
Sleep shifts (8 hrs) paid at National Living Wage
This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.
You will be employed directly by the client, however, SSCM oversees all aspects of the client’s care package on his behalf.
