Network Service Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Service Technician to join our team at Thames Water. This is an exciting and varied customer-facing role where day to day you will be resolving customer network challenges to ensure minimal disruption to customer supply.

Network Service Technicians are also required to support Wholesale project work, either on a full or part time basis and to support ongoing leakage delivery activities.

What you will be doing as a Network Service Technician
  • Operation of the mains network, including controlling burst mains, ensuring isolation of mains to facilitate planned work, emergency repairs and maintenance.
  • Personal ownership of customer issues, responding to queries & complaints, resolving issues.
  • Ensure water quality compliance during repairs.
  • Act as local network expert for isolation and rezoning providing information for risk assessments & sharing information regarding network risks and other Health & Safety issues.
  • Responsible for investigating the clean water network to resolve poor asset performance, including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries and loss of supply.
  • Working in compliance with Company procedures including Business Operating Plan, Health & Safety and streetworks legislation.

Base Location: Speen - Newbury - RG14 1RT but you will cover the whole of the

Thames Valley area when on shift.

Working Pattern or hours: 38 hours (1 in 8 weeks late shifts and 1 in 8 weeks standby rota)

Necessary requirements for the role: A clean UK driving license and be happy to drive between jobs.

What you should bring to the role:

  • Our customers are at the heart of everything we do so previous customer service experience within a constantly changing environment is essential.
  • As the role involves driving daily, the ideal candidate will hold a full UK driving licence and be happy to drive between jobs.
  • Previous experience in domestic plumbing or water mains and leakage would be advantageous but not essential as full training is provided.
  • NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds / GCSE) or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • IT skills – will be required to communicate via a portable device.
  • Have excellent customer service experience.
  • Have excellent time management Have a can-do and positive attitude.
