The opportunity

Barnsley College is looking for an ALS Student Support Worker to make a big impact. Working in this professional environment, you will support learners with any additional support needs, some of whom will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

This is a hands on, rewarding opportunity for a Student Support Worker to help and support our students with their day-to-day experience at Barnsley College. You will provide personal and curriculum support in accordance with the individual needs of our apprentices and learners, sitting in on classes to aid their learning and understand the processes they need to follow.

You will work with a range of learners with individual learning needs, both on a 1:1 and small group basis. Your role will be to ensure that your students are working in a fully inclusive working environment and are able to access the College and the curriculum in order achieve their potential.

As an ALS Student Support Worker, you will be a key part of the team and will assist in the planning, preparation and assessment of learning, providing regular student feedback to Trainers and Managers.

About you

We are looking for someone with the personal skills and experience to effectively support learners, dealing with challenging behaviour when it arises and helping students to develop their own coping strategies and succeed in their aspirations.

Due to the nature of the role, our new Student Support Worker will require strong literacy skills and the ability to work to deadlines to complete paperwork that is subject to audit.
